Integrated Community Development

Being different in size and areas of intervention, the projects supported capacity building initiatives of community based groups, rehabilitated rural infrastructure, technically equipped social centers, encouraged income generating activities, maintained out-of-school and vocational training study groups for children and young people, launched awareness raising campaigns on a number of social issues, advocated for betterment of educational system in the country and development of value base society, contributed to spiritual uplifting of people through clergy involvement in a variety of activities. The Programme implementation continued in 2008 with more emphasis on rural and community development.

Empowerment of Six Communities

More than 2600 Armenian refugees currently reside in the communities of Dzoravank, Dprabak, Aygut, Barepat, Kalavan and Antaramej, in Gegharkunik Province, Armenia. The social, economic and health situation in this area, often referred to as “forgotten villages’, is most difficult. Starting from 2004 through the financial support of Norwegian Church Aid the ART tries to address social, economic and ecological aspects of development of the mentioned six communities. Establishment of Social Service Center in Gyumri

To respond to massive needs of the people in the region, the ART in cooperation with the Shirak Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church has launched a number of educational and social activities starting from 2000. Since 2004 the ART and the Shirak Diocese, supported by Church Development Service – An Association of the Protestant Churches in Germany, EED and the Interchurch Organization for Development Cooperation, ICCO have started the “Establishment of Social Centre in Gyumri” project, the aim of which was to renovate and reconstruct a three-storey building to accommodate educational, social and rehabilitation activities for local people. Honey production as a way of development

The project is aimed at improvement of social and economic situation in Ijevan region, Tavush province. The objectives of the project are providing local population with trainings and consultancy in honey production, creating honey production and marketing opportunities. [learn more]

Honey Production as a Way of Development (Assistance to Communities through Honey Production and Marketing)

The project is a continuation of a programme on promotion of honey production, initiated in 2004, in Ijevan sub-region by the Armenia Round Table. Within its framework 50 families from 5 frontier villages (Kirants, Nerkin Tsakhkavan, Acharkut, Ditavan and Berkaber) were trained and 50 new apiaries were established. As a result of project implementation “Bee Keepers’ Centre” was created and in 2007 farmers were organized into a union, “Meghrik” Beekeepers’ Foundation. In the result of the project implementation a number of visible changes are recorded. Communities became more active through joint work; self-respect in the result of successful activities has increased. [learn more]

Metsamour community development

Project aims to develop the social life of Metsamour community and to facilitate community integration, to activate community life and to enhance the role of the family in the community through different social, spiritual, educational, ecological, legal and psychological activities based on the Christian and national values and principles. Social Betterments and Contribution to Peace Building in Aygepar

Social Betterments and Contribution to Peace Building in Aygepar

Aygepar, a bordering village, became under the attention of the ART after a series of documentaries produced in the village on a peace and reconciliation theme. The village is on Armenian-Azerbaijani border. Having worked in the village during the film production, the ART has designed a project that will solve a social issue in the village, as prioritized by people themselves. Through construction of about 7 km long drinking water pipe line about 800 residents of the village will receive fresh water to their houses. This is believed to be a valuable accomplishment that will considerably improve quality of life of people. [learn more]
