Empowerment of Six Communities

Empowerment of Six Communities More than 2600 Armenian refugees currently reside in the communities of Dzoravank, Dprabak, Aygut, Barepat, Kalavan and Antaramej, in Gegharkunik Province, Armenia. The social, economic and health situation in this area, often referred to as “forgotten villages’, is most difficult. Starting from 2004 through the financial support of Norwegian Church Aid the ART tries to address social, economic and ecological aspects of development of the mentioned six communities. Honey production as a way of development

Honey production as a way of development The project is aimed at improvement of social and economic situation in Ijevan region, Tavush province. The objectives of the project are providing local population with trainings and consultancy in honey production, creating honey production and marketing opportunities. [learn more]

Honey Production as a Way of Development (Assistance to Communities through Honey Production and Marketing)

The project is a continuation of a programme on promotion of honey production, initiated in 2004, in Ijevan sub-region by the Armenia Round Table. Within its framework 50 families from 5 frontier villages (Kirants, Nerkin Tsakhkavan, Acharkut, Ditavan and Berkaber) were trained and 50 new apiaries were established. As a result of project implementation “Bee Keepers’ Centre” was created and in 2007 farmers were organized into a union, “Meghrik” Beekeepers’ Foundation. In the result of the project implementation a number of visible changes are recorded. Communities became more active through joint work; self-respect in the result of successful activities has increased. [learn more]

Sustainability of ART Established Computer Centers

Sustainability of ART Established Computer Centers Today, the contribution of Internet Computer Technology (ICT) and its integration to the society is highly important and necessary for all regions of Armenia, especially for the population of rural and remote communities cut from any means of communication. Tough social conditions and vulnerable life-style in rural communities make unbearable particularly the youth life, monotonous their existence. In reply to this challenge, the ART has defined “empowerment of vulnerable communities in solving of own problems through initiation and management of development projects” as one of key elements of its mission.
